VARSITY is the official student newspaper of the University of Cape Town (UCT). Founded in 1942, VARSITY is completely written, produced and distributed by student journalists studying at UCT. The newspaper contains News, Opinions, Features and Sports sections and has a readership of 14 000. As a developmental agency, VARSITY strives to teach its members about student journalism and the wider world of media, providing students with the basics required to participate in the faster, more competitive journalism profession.
