Announcing In-Publication Shopping: Monetize Any Publication

We’re excited to introduce you to In-Publication Shopping on Issuu. You can now embed clickable shopping links directly into your publication. Whether you produce a catalog, lookbook or magazine, you can earn money from any publication by directing readers to your own marketplace, or to e-commerce sites like Amazon, Etsy or eBay. You can even use your preferred affiliate program links.

The Digital Revenue Gap

We know monetizing your publication is important to you, but it doesn’t always seem like there’s great ways to do that. According to a recent publisher survey conducted by Issuu, 78 percent of publishers are not yet monetizing their digital content, but are still looking for commerce and advertising tools to help them generate more revenue. In-Publication Shopping will help bridge that gap.

How In-Publication Shopping works

Readers will then see a special shopping-cart icon so they know they can click the link to buy the product or service you’ve featured in your publication. In addition, your audience can now browse, engage and shop in your publication without disrupting the beautiful Issuu reading experience they love.

You can add shopping links as part of the Web & Video Links for a publication. After logging in, select “Web & Video Links” in the publication-options dropdown under Publisher Tools. You can highlight the clickable area and then add the link where readers can shop for the item or service. There’s also a “Convert Links” button, so if you have existing links in your publication you’d like to mark for shopping, you can easily change them all in a few clicks.

Note that you may notice the shopping links don’t show up yet on mobile and some desktop browsers. We’re working on this, along with other improvements to the In-Publication Shopping experience, so please stay tuned.
